2004, beginning

Back in 2004, a group of champions, assessing the pace of the mushroom industry growth in neighboring Poland, decided to unfold a similar project on the territory of a newly created industrial site near Brest Airport.

Adaptation of the Dutch mushroom growing technology

Many factors contributed to this: the Polish farmers’ sucess in adapting the Dutch technology of mushroom growing to our climatic features, proximity to the border (which made the delivery of raw materials and the import of technologies easier), the agricultural traditions of the region (which inspired the founders’ confidence in fast formation of an efficient team), Customs privileges that simplified the construction of the plant.

This all resulted in the establishment of the «BONSHE», joint venture, registered in the Brest Free Economic Zone on September 8, 2004. Creating such a project from scratch turned out to be a rather complicated process: many issues required a quick solution with the lack of information (which wall material would better withstand regular hot steam treatments during disinfection, what diameter of steam pipes is needed to supply the required amount of moisture to the mushroom growing site, what boiler room capacity would be sufficient to provide a microclimate in case of extremely low or extremely high air temperatures, etc.). After all, there were no similar plants in the country, so there were no common engineering solutions, and no experience have been accumulated in applying certain design solutions.

2009, first harvest and 60 employees

Nevertheless, the Phase 1 of the production complex was built in 2009 and produced the first output yield under the BONSHE trademark. At that time, the plant’s headcount was about 60 people, and the cultivated area was 3090 m2.

Interestingly, at that time, the company engaged a Polish technologist, who was at the heart of Polish mushroom farming, and brought in the foreign experience at the initial, most difficult stage of development.

Construction of the second production building, started in 2013

A landmark event in the company’s history was the beginning of the second production building construction, which began in 2013. By this time, the experience of the Polish mushroom farms has resulted in sufficiently unified engineering and design solutions that facilited the quick and efficient construction of production buildings for growing mushrooms. Unlike the mid-noughties, the experience in the operation of various types of such complexes was gained in Poland and the optimal technology requirements were comprehended. Thus, BONSHE became the first enterprise in the CIS that, having involved foreign consultants and a local design organization, was able to adapt the Polish experience in the standard mushroom complexes construction to Belarusian building standards. This resulted in the construction of the second production building.

Further growth

High enough technical indicators of the facility, high performance and ease of operation in the favorable market context led to further rapid growth of the enterprise. Unexpectedly, this led to similar buildings construction in Shchuchin (Grodno region), Sennitsa (Minsk region), as well as in Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Krasnodar Krai and other regions of Russia.

At the moment, the enterprise consists of five production buildings, our team of professionals is growing. Bonchet is the largest producer of fresh champignon mushrooms cultivated in the Republic of Belarus

JLLC «BONCHE», as the inventor and patent owner of the Eurasian patent, sells organic fertilizer based on mushroom production waste, intended for use in agriculture when cultivating crops both in open and closed ground, and as a factor contributing to soil fertility and productivity.
